●     Born in Usansolo (Bizkaia), 6 June 1959.

●     Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Law, majoring in Economy and Law, from the University of Deusto.

●     Lecturer in Political Sociology at the University of Deusto.

●     Member of the Basque Parliament for EAJ-PNV in the 3^rd and 4^th legislatures.

●     Secretary General for Co-ordination and Administrative Modernisation of the Basque Government, 1995-1998.

●     Deputy Premier and Minister for the Treasury and Public Administration since January 1999.
